Adult Classes





Our adult classes are ideal for both beginning and experienced artists alike. These unique courses focus on the fundamentals and on building existing skills. This will allow each student to explore their own creativity at their own pace.


Open Studios: Current adult students who'd like more time to create outside of class are invited to register for our 3-hour open studio sessions. Students must sign up online by midnight the night before the class.

Fundamentals in Drawing | Mon. Mornings



In-person | 8 weeks | Mondays, 10AM – Noon | Jan 6 – Mar 3



Teacher: Trevor Thomas


Details: Build a strong foundation in the elements and principles of design through drawing. Perfect for anyone looking to enhance their observational drawing skills. Learn how to capture the beauty the world through various mediums, primarily charcoal.


Ages: 18 years and older.​ Exceptions made for mature teens with a parent's permission.


Course dates: No class on 2/17 (President’s Day).


Materials: Students are recommended to bring their own materials, although some will be available at the art center. A detailed supply list will be sent to all who enroll.

Beginner Wheel Throwing | Mon. Evenings



In-person | 8 weeks | Monday, 6:00 – 8:30 pm | Jan 6 – Mar 3



Teacher: Kel Darling


Details: In this introductory course, students will learn the fundamentals of ceramic wheel throwing, including centering, opening, pulling, collaring and glaze techniques.


Ages: 18 years and older.​ Exceptions made for mature teens with a parent's permission.


Course dates: No class on 2/17 (Persident’s Day).


Materials: Students will be given Laguna #55 stoneware clay.


Course Price: The course price includes clay, glaze, firing costs, and eight-course dates.

Explore Handbuilding and Wheel Throwing | Tues. Mornings



In-person | 8 weeks | Tuesdays, 10am – 1pm | Jan 7 – Feb 25



Teacher: Kel Darling


Details: In this extended course, students will explore hand-built and wheel-thrown projects, with an emphasis on functional pieces. Instruction on surface decoration as well as glazing techniques will be taught. A new project will be introduced each week to build students’ skill sets. Intermediate and advanced students may work on independent projects.


Ages: 18 years and older.​ Exceptions made for mature teens with a parent's permission.


Materials: Laguna #65 stoneware clay will be provided for most projects. For specific needs and requests other clay options are available.

Details: This class will offer students an intensive program focusing on all levels of wheel throwing skills. Students will refine, enhance and grow their skill sets. The teacher will offer inspiration and feedback for each class.


Ages: 18 years and older.​ Exceptions made for mature teens with a parent's permission.


Materials: Students will have a choice of Laguna #55 or Laguna #80 stoneware clays.

Functional and Sculptural Handbuilding | Wed. Mornings

Teacher: Ratna Gandhi


Details: Designed for individuals eager to embark on a creative journey, this class focuses on fundamental handbuilding clay techniques to craft art pieces. Throughout the course, participants will have the opportunity to enhance their artistic skills by mastering handbuilding techniques, including pinching, pressing, stamping, coiling, and working with soft clay slabs.


Ages: 18 years and older.​ Exceptions made for mature teens with a parent's permission.


Materials: Laguna #55 stoneware clay will be provided for most projects. For specific needs and requests, other clay options are available.

Expressions in Paint | Online



Online | 8 weeks | Wednesdays, 5:30 – 7:30 PM | Jan 8 – Feb 26



Teacher: Stefanie Lieberman


Details: This class is designed to help students break down an image into its most important aspects without getting tied up in detail at the start. We will refine our paintings through the process of layering, color mixing and painting technique. Inspiration will be provided through varied subject matter such as still life, landscapes or interiors. Students are encouraged to submit images or one will be supplied prior to the start of class. All skill levels are welcome in this fun and relaxing atmosphere.


Ages: 18 years and older.​ Exceptions made for mature teens with a parent's permission.


Materials: Students provide their own materials of either oil or acrylic. A detailed supply list will be sent to all who enroll. ​

Handbuilding with Paper Clay | Thurs. Evenings



In-person | 8 weeks | Thursday, 6:30 – 9PM | Jan 9 – Feb 27



Teacher: Michele Lorraine


Details: Students explore and experience new approaches to hand building functional pottery and sculptural forms using paper clay. Techniques such as slab work, coiling, pinching and darting will be reviewed. Emphasis on design principles will be supported with lessons on form and surface decorations such as textures, underglaze techniques and glaze applications.

Each student will be encouraged to work on independent projects and will be supported in developing their own artistic voice. Previous experience in ceramics is required. ​


Ages: 18 years and older.​ Exceptions made for mature teens with a parent's permission


Materials: White Stoneware or Porcelain Paper Clay will be provided for most projects. For specific needs and requests, other clay options are available.
