Pat Parson: His intricate, labor-intensive pieces are recognized and admired—not because of innate talent, he says, but because he was "too stubborn to quit."
Despite being rejected from his ninth-grade art class and convinced he lacked talent, this self-taught artist never stopped creating. Pat began drawing in grade school, initially inspired by a misguided belief that comic-making would impress girls. Over time, he realized his strongest work came when he stopped trying to please others and focused on his own creative vision. Without formal training, he learned from books, videos, and tireless practice.
